An evaluation of the Prince’s Trust “Be Enterprising” programme

Supporting key Prince’s Trust groups

Be Enterprising aims to support young people who are interested in becoming self-employed and require help to test their ideas, write business plans, start their own businesses or achieve other education, training or work goals. It targets young people aged 18 – 30, some of whom are ex-offenders, in care or leaving care, or low achievers.

The Prince’s Trust wished to assess the impact of Be Enterprising and determine how this programme affects young people’s future prospects. Qa and SQW were commissioned to conduct the research.

Discussion groups with young people

In total five discussion groups took place in Bristol, Hull, Leeds and London. A discussion guide was developed by Qa which included activities designed to engage young people.

Qa also undertook a telephone survey with young people who had attended an introductory session but who had not participated in the full programme.

The future for Be Enterprising

This information gathered by the research will help the Trust to build on its successes and consider alternative ways to develop future services.
