Age UK has commissioned Qa Research to conduct a series of in-depth qualitative interviews with older people to understand more about barriers to Internet usage.
The study will also uncover how older people overcome barriers to accessing the Internet, motivating factors for taking up an Internet training course, and which types of activity are most successful in encouraging sustained Internet use.
The research will capture the views of individuals who have participated/been involved with the following activities:
- Age UK tea and biscuits session
- A UK Online Centre course
- Computer Buddies Scheme (Community Service Volunteers (CSV) Action Networks) or a Digital Outreach Trainer
The findings of the research will help Age UK to inform stakeholder organisations on how to raise awareness of the Internet and assist older people in using it for the first time through a better understanding of the attitudinal and physical barriers to use.
