Helping Family Holiday Charity demonstrate the impact of their work with families facing multiple disadvantages
As a growing number of families in the UK struggle with financial, mental, and physical challenges, Family Holiday Charity want to offer a vital chance for individuals to reset, share quality time, and enhance mental well-being and foster hope for the future. The Family Holiday Charity provides holidays to families who may be struggling with their finances and/or mental and physical health challenges. Holidays aim to help improve things such as confidence and well-being, encourage participation in sports, outdoor activities, and cultural experiences. Qa evaluated the impact of the charity’s work.
Approach
Across three evaluations in England and Scotland, Qa’s mixed method approach engaged with families and their support workers, many of whom encountered various challenges ranging from mental health issues, bereavement, housing issues through to surviving domestic abuse. The approach also integrated quantitative analysis of application data and post-holiday questionnaire data for the families. Qa also utilised the Social Value Engine to quantify the social value generated for every £1 of investment made.
Outcome
The Family Holiday Charity have been able to share the evaluation evidence and stories with existing and prospective funders and supporters. They’ve also been able to use the evidence to promote change within the tourism sector more widely, through speaking at key conferences including the first Diversity and Inclusion Summit at the World Travel Market London 2023.
