About this research

Qa Research is doing this research on behalf of York Bid. The research findings will be used to discover reactions to the proposed new signpost designs for the city centre.

The data controller for this research project is Qa Research. The data controller ‘determines the purposes and means of processing personal data’. The legal basis for this research is ‘consent’. This means that people who take part in the survey agree to do so based on the information in the survey introduction and in this privacy notice. Taking part in this research is voluntary and you have the right to withdraw from the research at any time – see ‘Your rights’ below.

How your data will be used

For research purposes:

This research is confidential. Your identity and personal details will only be accessed by Qa Research for the purposes of this research project. York BID will not know you have taken part and will only receive aggregated data (which means your data will be mixed in with the views of many other people) and the research reports will only contain anonymous information. Qa Research will only keep your personal data for as long as we need it, and will delete it within 6 months of the end of this research project. 

Qa Research is the data controller for personal data collected for this purpose, and the lawful basis for using your data in this way is our legitimate interest. Access to personal data collected and used for quality control purposes is strictly controlled and limited to Qa Research employees on a need to know basis. Data collected for quality control purposes will not be passed on to our clients or any third party.

How we keep your information safe

Qa Research uses a wide range of technology to ensure that any personal data we hold is processed, stored and transferred in a secure way. This includes encryption, password protection and limiting access to Personal Data to key staff only. We hold Cyber Essentials accreditation and we regularly review our processes, hardware, software and policies to ensure we maintain Personal Data securely.

Your data will not be transferred to a country outside of the EU.

Your rights

Under the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), individuals have rights over their personal data and Data Controllers have a responsibility to fulfil these rights – see ‘Contact’ below. Your rights include;
